1. When putting together a wardrobe it can be helpful to establish a "uniform" for yourself based on your lifestyle and daily activities. This uniform concept will eliminate the guess-work in putting together outfits. With the basics out of the way you can stylize each outfit with accessories such as shoes, jewelry, scarves, handbags, or a cute jacket or sweater.
2. The latest fads are tempting. They look so chic, so modern. But what is permissible is not always profitable. Skinny jeans and cropped boxy shirts are not for everyone. They are body type specific. Your goal when choosing your clothing should be to look slimmer than when you are naked. You will look better and more put together in styles that flatter your body type than in the latest and greatest fashions pictured in Vogue and Instyle.
3. I believe that every woman should have two items included in her wardrobe. A pair of dark (and I mean dark) blue jeans that make her look long and lean and a black dress that makes her look slim and elegant. I call these items, when you find them, "magic" clothes. You will find that one or the other of these items is appropriate for almost every occasion. Variety is the spice of life, I know this. But putting on a piece of clothing that you know looks sensational is very, very satisfying.
Megan went shopping with me last year to help me figure out a good holiday outfit. I am fashion challenged. She was fun to go shopping with, helped pick out things I never would have considered, and gave great tips that I have used ever since. We ended up with an outfit that was comfortable, a top priority for me, and felt very much like ME, not some picture out of a magazine. But it was still very cute. So, she’s great at helping you figure out your own personal style, use what you have, and is extremely budget friendly. She’s well worth the $20 / hour. Ask for a closet makeover as a Christmas present for yourself. Really, she’s awesome.
